@Tommocatt I developed more Caine headcanon. I think he was the son of a knight in a castle court and lived pretty closely to the royal family. The heir to the throne (the prince) and Caine were close in age and ended up spending a lot of time together. Then Caine was killed by an assassin who believed he was the prince. Since he was murdered at such a young age (sixteen-eighteen) God took special pity on him and made him an angel and keeping him in the upper circles if heaven. For the next fifty or so years he kept his memories at he watched everyone he knew grow old but as they all passed away he became disconnected from Earth and gradually lost all memories of his life while alive. Even the few angels he had known personally while human bring back no memories for him.
Possible other ideas:
- Barbara Palvin/Clara Devangeline as a girl he had been arranged to marry while they were alive. She is also an angel but neither of them have any memory of knowing each other. (Perhaps she is one of the disapproving angels).
- Xion reminds him of the prince he used to know (why he responds to him so much and becomes more human around him)
- Caine goes to Burger King, gets a paper crown, and has a little freak out
- God assigns Caine to go try and talk reason into Xion and make him return to heaven, but Caine goes and sees Maeve instead.
